What this section covers
Shock freezing differs from ordinary freezing in one thing — speed. When the product passes the crystallisation zone slowly, the ice grows in large crystals and tears the cell structure: after thawing the product leaks, loses its shape and loses weight. Fast freezing gives fine crystals and the product stays itself.
After that the only question is how the product is presented to the chamber. If it is already on trays and trolleys, a trolley cabinet like the ED 720 fits: the trolley rolls in and an hour later rolls out frozen, with nothing to transfer. If the product comes as a continuous flow from a forming machine, a spiral freezer fits: the belt takes it off the conveyor and hands it to packing without stopping.
The JBT Frigoscandia spiral freezers are represented by two generations. The GC70 is a proven machine with the self-stacking FRIGoBELT® Nova belt and the ADF system that lets it run a day without stopping to defrost. The M7 is the new generation with 217 design changes, most of them about hygiene: a fully welded floor, an open construction and drainage with no bacterial traps.
What do you need
If you know the task but not the name of the machine, start here.
Freeze goods on trays
A trolley cabinet for six trolleys, 1000 kg/h: EUROS ED 720 (ALASKA).
Freeze in the flow from a line
A spiral freezer at up to 2500 kg/h: GYRoCOMPACT® GC70.
Pass a strict sanitary audit
A new-generation hygienic construction: GYRoCOMPACT® M7.
Not only freeze but chill or prove
The M7 works as a freezer, a chiller or a proofing chamber: GYRoCOMPACT® M7.
Items in this section

Comparison of the items in this section
The items solve different tasks, so comparing them for "which is better" makes no sense. This table answers a different question — which of them is yours:
| Item | What it does | Key parameters | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| GYRoCOMPACT® GC70 | freezes in the flow | up to 2500 kg/h · 32 tiers · ADF | continuous lines |
| GYRoCOMPACT® M7 | freezes, chills or proves | 16–40 tiers · belt 760 mm | strict sanitary requirements |
| EUROS ED 720 (ALASKA) | freezes on trays and trolleys | 1000 kg/h · 6 trolleys · −40 °C | goods on trays, a smaller footprint |
The parameters are taken from the manufacturers’ technical catalogues. The exact configuration and output are selected for the customer’s product.

How we select the equipment
- The taskYou describe the product, the volume per shift and the space in the workshop. If the product does not exist yet, we discuss what it should be.
- CalculationAn engineer works out the output, chooses the units and the interchangeable tooling and checks the dimensions against the manufacturer's drawings.
- The offerYou receive the composition of the set, the specifications, the lead time and the price. If needed, several options for different budgets.
- ImplementationSupply, installation, commissioning on your own product, staff training — and service afterwards.
Why customers buy from us
The factories build the machines. We are responsible for making the equipment work on your product in your workshop — and for keeping it working. That is eight steps, and all of them are ours:
- Selection for your product
- Delivery
- Installation
- Commissioning
- Staff training
- Warranty
- Service
- Spare parts
Selection for your product
We calculate the configuration for your product, volume and premises.
Delivery and installation
Transport, positioning in the production room, setting up.
Commissioning
Bringing the equipment up to regime on your own product.
Staff training
We train operators and technologists, including tooling changes.
Spare parts and tooling
Original components, interchangeable units, dies and matrices.
Warranty and service
Warranty and post-warranty service across Ukraine.
Frequently asked questions
A spiral freezer or a trolley cabinet — which to choose?
The question is not the output but how the product leaves the line. If it travels on a conveyor, a spiral freezer is needed, otherwise the items have to be taken off by hand and laid on trays. If it is already on trays (pancakes, hand-formed products), a trolley cabinet is cheaper and simpler, and no transfer would be needed anyway.
How long does freezing take?
It depends on the mass and shape of the product. The manufacturer gives concrete figures: a 19 g dumpling in the GC70 takes 17 minutes, a 120 g schnitzel 39 minutes. The ED 720 trolley cabinet goes from +20 to −18 °C in an hour. For your product the time is calculated separately — the belt length or the number of trolleys follows from it.
Can different products be frozen on one freezer?
Yes. The limit is the product height: 65 mm in the GC70, and 65, 85 or 105 mm in the M7 depending on the belt link. The belt speed is adjustable, so the time in the chamber is matched to the product.
Is the refrigeration unit part of the supply?
The ED 720 cabinet is supplied with a 70 hp refrigeration unit that can be placed up to 15 m away, and the connecting pipes are included. For spiral freezers the refrigeration supply is calculated separately: the GC70 needs up to 290 kW of refrigeration on R507 with evaporation at −40 °C.
What has to be prepared in the workshop?
Space allowing for the ceiling height (a spiral freezer is tall), electrical and refrigerant connections, drainage, and water and a drain for CIP washing. We give the exact requirements in a technical brief before delivery.
What is included besides the equipment?
Selection of the configuration for the product, delivery, installation and commissioning on your own product, staff training, warranty and post-warranty service, original spare parts. Building readiness of the premises and the energy connections are on the customer's side.
Not sure where to start?
Describe the task and our engineer will propose a solution and prepare a quotation. We need to know:
- which product you freeze, its weight and dimensions;
- how many kilograms per hour leave the line;
- whether the product travels on a conveyor or lies on trays;
- the area and height of the premises.
If you do not have all the answers yet, send what you have. We will work out the rest in conversation.
